New events
Policy Hackathon: Balancing AI Innovation and Regulation April 4–27 (online).
This inaugural policy hackathon from the Berkeley AI Safety Student Initiative is an opportunity to work with other students to advocate for policy solutions centered around balancing AI innovation and regulation. The first round submission, a one-page executive summary outlining a policy proposal, is due 4th April. There will be prizes.
New training programs
Safe AI London Course March 31 – June 23 (online & London, UK).
8-week course organised by AI Safety Collab and Safe AI London (SAIL). Two tracks: Governance, based on the course from BlueDot Impact; and Alignment, based on the AI Safety Atlas. Discussion sessions will be held online but there will be optional in-person events in London.ML4Good West Europe May 2025 May 16–26 (location TBA).
10-day in-person bootcamp focused on deep learning and upskilling in technical AI safety. Open to applicants with a high motivation to contribute to AI safety and at least a moderate amount of experience in coding. Preference will be given to those currently based in Western Europe.ML4Good Central Europe June 2025 June 6–16 (location TBA).
As above, but preference will be given to those currently based in Central Europe.Cambridge ERA:AI Summer Fellowship 2025 June 29 – August 24 (Cambridge, UK).
Fully-funded, in-person, 8-week research fellowship with expert mentorship. Fellows develop and complete a research project on technical and/or governance measures to mitigate the risks posed by frontier AI systems, together with the support of ERA’s research managers, mentors, and wider network.Dilemmas and Dangers in AI June 30 – August 3 (online).
Five-week interdisciplinary online course open to students aged 15–19 in the UK or Ireland who haven’t yet started university. Aimed at helping participants explore how to steer cutting-edge AI technology toward benefits for humanity. Top finalists can go on to apply to participate in a selective August Fellowship with additional mentorship, funding, and support.Future Perfect Fellowship June 2025 – June 2026 (online).
Vox is running a 1-year, full-time fellowship to help them ensure Future Perfect is telling the most important stories and approaching those stories with nuance and discernment, and to help fellows grow as writers. Aside from intensive feedback from editors, fellows will also have dedicated mentors, exclusive networking opportunities, and skills-training sessions.CNTR Tech & Policy Summer School July 22–31 (Providence, USA).
Brown University's Center for Technological Responsibility, Reimagination and Redesign (CNTR) is running a summer school for graduate students. The goals are to enable students to conduct high-quality policy-informed AI research and advocate for new AI policies or changes to existing policy, and build a pipeline of qualified technologists to fill emerging needs in government.Talos Fellowship – Autumn 2025 August 11 – October 17 (online & Brussels, Belgium).
Program aiming to empower ambitious graduates to launch European policy careers focused on ensuring the safe and responsible deployment of AI and related technologies. Fellows have the choice of 3 tracks: Training, Placement, and International AI Governance Specialisation. All tracks include an online training program followed by a summit in Brussels.
